The experimental unit features a vertical air duct with heating elements inserted, accompanied by an axial fan positioned on top of the duct.
Ambient air is drawn in by the fan and directed through the air duct, passing over the heating elements to absorb heat.
Four heating elements with different geometries are available for selection, each designed to release heat only at their surface.
To study free convection, two heating elements can be operated outside of the air duct.
The compact design ensures rapid heating and short experiment duration.
Temperature sensors at the air duct's inlet and outlet monitor temperature variations, while air velocity measurements determine airflow rates.
Heating power and flow rate adjustments are facilitated and displayed via software.
Microprocessor-based instrumentation is housed securely, with software provided for system operation, data acquisition, and educational purposes.
The setup is connected to a PC via USB for seamless data transmission and analysis.
